Safer Than Itâs Ever Been! Really!By Mark Krikorian September 29, 2011 9:46 AM Both the Washington Post and Wall Street Journal agree that, since illegal crossings are down at the Mexican border, itâs time to proceed to amnesty and huge increases in immigration (9 percent unemployment? Who cares!). The border is safer than itâs ever been, in the words of DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano. The only thing left to do is dig a moat and fill it with alligators, joked President Obama.Well, someone didnât tell the two retired generals whoâve just released âTexas Border Security: A Strategic Military Assessmentâ: During the...

With the showdown between top GOP oversight official Rep. Darrell Issa and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Sec. Janet Napolitano heating up, Napolitano has dispatched a 21-man team to respond to Issas document and testimony requests, a DHS source says. The team includes 15 lawyers and six support staff who have logged over 600 hours working to find documents and review them before sending more than 3,000 pages to Issa, the source says.(Snip) Tuesday, Issa subpoenaed the testimony of two key career officials at DHS, the first time Issa is using the force of law to compel information from the

Last year, U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Janet and her senior staff secretly met with a select group of Muslim, Arab, and Sikh organizations. Among the mix were three organizations directly associated with an outlawed terrorist entity the Muslim Brotherhood, who are involved in the current uprising in Egypt. Walid Phares, director of the Future Terrorism Project at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, criticized the partnership concept: Through the so-called partnership between the Jihadi-sympathizer networks and U.S. bureaucracies, the U.S. government is invaded by militant groups. Just recently, a Washington, DC-based legal group uncovered documents from the Department of...

TEL AVIV -- Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano on Tuesday rebuffed suggestions that U.S. airports should adopt the practices of airports in Israel, calling the Israeli air travel system "a very different model." "We share a common goal, which is to protect the people of our countries from terror or other attacks," Napolitano told Fox News ahead of a tour of security facilities at Tel Aviv's Ben-Gurion International Airport. :But there are many differences in the United States system versus Israel.

Big Sis throws in the towel once again. Just as she told us "we can't deport tens of thousands of people" (even though both Truman and Eisenhower did, and THEN some). Now she tells us we "can't seal the border", but "we can secure it". HUH? Are there ANY adults running this show? Cleaning house on Nov. 2nd is not enough. The new House leadership must drag Janet, Morton and Holder before committees to ream them over their incompetence and vicious war against Arizona and the rule of law. http://www.facebook.com/StandWithArizona

Janet Napolitano scraps U.S.-Mexico fence By JEN DIMASCIO | 3/16/10 7:14 PM EDT Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano has put the brakes on SBInet, the $3 billion plan to build a virtual fence along the U.S. border with Mexico. Not only do we have an obligation to secure our borders, we have a responsibility to do so in the most cost-effective way possible, Napolitano said in a statement Tuesday. The system of sensors and cameras along the Southwest border known as SBInet has been plagued with cost overruns and missed deadlines. With that in mind, Napolitano is withholding funding for...

Attorney General Eric Holder didn't consult the Department of Homeland Security before he made plans to try alleged Sept. 11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed in New York City, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said Wednesday. "We were not consulted before, but we have been part of a process to do cost estimates of what the security costs would be after the decision was made," Napolitano told Senate Homeland Security Chairman Joe Lieberman.

"It came as no surprise to anyone who knows her that Napolitano handled the incident and its aftermath with aplomb. In the years I have known her, she has managed every challenge that has come her way with the same calm command that she showed in this instance. If there is anyone in the administration who embodies President Obama's preference for quiet competence with "no drama," it is Janet Napolitano."

DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano isn't personally responsible for the security lapses that allowed Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab to nearly bring down a U.S. airliner on Christmas Day. But she is responsible for going on national television yesterday and repeatedly claiming - contrary to the evidence and the truth - that "the system worked." It's fine for Napolitano to want to reassure the American public that the skies are safe. That's part of her job, too. But she should be smart enough to find a way of doing that without treating the American people like a bunch of morons and dupes.
